renovation for Tan Family
ENG
In a peaceful suburb of Kuala Lumpur: Kepong, a young family appointed us to renovate their house within a small budget. Special requests were a light and bright house with lots of natural elements. The orientation of the house: East-West, is in a tropical country like Malaysia least favorable for achieving a cooling residence. Inspired by a house we visited in Vietnam a second facade is designed in the shape of long plant trenches. This second layer provides shadow, privacy, fresh air and a tropical/natural feeling in the middle of the city. The original facade is opened up and the large openings are filled in with bi-folding doors providing the much wanted daylight and natural ventilation.
